We Need Your Help Today!
The final countdown to our magazine launch & congratulations to our interns
Dear Readers,
We have been hard at work this past year (it’s been almost an entire year!!) making this quixotic dream a reality. In that time, we’ve published more than 60 works of fiction set in the universe of the Distant Reaches. We hope you’ve been enjoying it!
Alas, as much as we wish this project was powered by magic, like all powerful spells, it comes with some material costs.
Now, we need your help to keep the enchantment alive.
Support Our Crowdfunding Campaign Today!
Right now, we are doing a final polish on our new website and eponymous print magazine. The website will allow us to launch exciting new projects, including serialized novellas, beginning this Fall. These novellas — written by us and some of our favorite writers — will follow a series of compelling, diverse characters across extended narrative arcs. This takes us beyond the short fiction that has been the foundation of this project so far and will be possible thanks to the greater functionality a new website will support.
The print magazine speaks for itself: The intangible will become tangible.
Why We Need Your Help Now
We work with dozens of independent writers and artists, paying them out of our own pockets. Beyond the hard-costs associated with building a website and magazine, we have design expenses, accounting and administrative fees, and software subscriptions to pay for.
Plus, we want to work with even more writers and artists going forward!
We created the Distant Reaches because we love it. We believe in the power of great stories and strongly feel we’re on the brink of something truly compelling. However, to keep the Distant Reaches going and bring this next phase of this project to the world, we’re going to have to do this together!
Support our Indiegogo campaign today if you value independent writing, art, and creativity!
Support us if you love fantasy and horror fiction!
We have multiple supporter tiers starting at just $5, and every little bit counts. As with all crowdfunding campaigns, the first 48 hours are critical. Momentum we develop now will help carry us through, so please support us if you are able.
All supporters of the Indiegogo campaign will receive digital subscriptions to the Distant Reaches, plus a wealth of other great perks, ranging from t-shirts to in-world naming rights to early access to the magazine to invitations to exclusive events (even a Dungeons & Dragons session!) with the creators and writers behind this project.
And if you aren’t able to support us financially right now, please share DistantReaches.com and our Indiegogo page with your friends and family.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at ben@distantreaches.com or robert@distantreaches.com. Thank you for your help and support!
Excelsior!
Ben & Robert
Congratulating Our Interns
This past few months, we’ve had the joy of working with two incredible interns.
Shannon Hall, our editorial intern, just completed her senior year at Knox College (Ben’s alma mater) and has been instrumental in organizing our content and preparing it for the new website launch. Plus, she’s already written one Secrets story for the Distant Reaches, and we expect to feature more of her writing in the months to come!
Tamia Johnson, our social media and marketing intern, just completed her sophomore year at Lincoln University. She’s the force behind our social media channels (check out our Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook pages) and designed the kick-ass signage for our zines launch at the 2023 Brooklyn Independent Comics Showcase.
Tamia and Shannon also collaborated to create a social media story about the journeys of Emily Wink around the Amal Empire. The exciting conclusion to her travels is coming up soon.
Keep an eye on these two! They’re awesome and are sure to do great things in the years to come.
